How to avoid 4GB splits (steps)
- Use an SDXC card (not SDHC).
- Insert the card, press MENU.
- Go to Setup (wrench) tab → Format card.
- Format the SDXC card in-camera (sets it up for exFAT behavior).
- Record as normal, your long take can stay as a single file beyond 4GB.
What it means in practice
If you want long recordings to stay as one file, use SDXC and format it in-camera. If you’re using SDHC, splitting is normal and expected.
